I am always interested in chatting with students who might want to join the research group. For UK students, check out the 3E NERC Doctoral Training Programme in the School of GeoScience. For Scottish Students, check out the Carnegie PhD Scholarships. For International Students check out funding opportunities through the University of Edinburgh or the Universitas 21 programme.

The research topics that I am interested in supervising include:

  1. Growth-climate relationships in tundra shrub species using common garden experiments and dendroecology
  2. Vegetation-permafrost interactions using historical ecology, repeat photography and long-term ecological surveys
  3. Testing the correspondence between remotely-sensed tundra greening and landscape and plot-level vegetation change
